Cheese House Gallery Presents May Members’ Show

The hills are covered with trees in bloom and birds in full song as all the creative forces of springtime shower down upon us.  At the Cheese House Gallery, it’s human creativity that is on display.  The Arts Council’s board of directors invited members of the Friends of Avery Arts to “show their stuff” during the month of May, and the response has been bountiful!

Artwork from both famous and unknown artists of the High Country will be featured at this show.  Council President Mary Ray explains, “For some of us, the arts are a profession, and for others, a hobby.  We want to celebrate creativity in all forms, and our friends have obliged us with a palette of artistic expression.”

The public is invited to the reception honoring exhibitors on Saturday, May 8, from 2 – 4 PM.  Celebrate spring time with an afternoon of art!  Refreshments will be served out back by the millpond.

Participating artists include:  Kevin Beck, Scott Boyle, Patti Connor-Greene, Trish Daniels, Frederick Craig Franz, Jennifer Franz, Lucy Geouge, Dan Greene, Freda Greene, Marilyn Herman, Byron Jones, Pam McKay, Caitlin Morehouse, Mary Ray, Stuart Roper, Jessie Schmidt, Deborah Squier, Christina Shook, Norma Suddreth, Barbara Timberman, and John Weber.  The artwork ranges from paintings to pottery, jewelry to quilted textiles. 

The Members Exhibition can bee seen through May 31 at the Cheese House Gallery, 630 Shawneehaw Avenue (Hwy 184).  Gallery hours are 10 AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday, and Saturdays by appointment. For more information, call 828-898-4292 or email info@averycountyartscouncil.org.
