SEPTEMBER ART EXHIBITION AT CANNON HOSPITAL: DEE PELLICCIO

aBanner Elk, NC   September 8, 2008 – The T. Alan Dickson Gallery at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Linville hosts “Glittered Doves,” an exhibition of mixed media techniques by Dee Pelliccio for September.

An artist with reverence for the mystery of everyday life, Pelliccio combines a sense of serenity with a touch of whimsy in her paintings.  Strong, vivid colors and fanciful images depict a world that is both ephemeral and ordinary, abstract and concrete.  However the tranquility that characterizes her work often masks an underlying meaning.  Layers of oil, acrylic, graphic transfer, and illustration encompass her creations.

Born and raised on Long Island, New York, Pelliccio pursued her interest in the arts at the Fashion Institute of Technology and the New York Institute of Technology.  She earned her aBachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from East Carolina University.  She began a career in design in Raleigh, and moved to Boone in May 2005 with her husband and daughter.  Pelliccio teaches private art lessons in painting and design in addition to working in the administrative office of the Art Department at Appalachian State University.
