June 2009: Cannon Hospital Gallery Features
“A High Country Perspective”

“My true joy is being connected to the natural world through photography,” says novice photographer, Gayle Culbreath whose work will be shown at the Dickson Gallery in Cannon Memorial Hospital.  Culbreath is a retired Service Consultant and System Programmer who worked at BellSouth for thirty years.  She stems from a long-line of Scottish immigrants who settled in North Carolina in the 1700’s so moving to the mountains was “like coming home.”  Although Culbreath is retired, she has found ways to occupy her time through photography and by being the Box Office Manager for Lees-McRae Summer Theatre.

Culbreath has received a variety of awards for her creative efforts.  In 2007, Gayle received an “Honorable Mention” for Landscape Photography at the Grandfather Mountain Amateur/Professional photography weekend.  Then in 2008, she won First Place Best in Show for her photograph from the low water bridge in Linville Land Harbor.  Culbreath’s photography has also been exhibited in River Dog Café in Linville.

The photography will be on exhibit June 1-30.
