ANDREA MCFEE AWARDED THE AVERY COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP

Banner Elk, NC June 6, 2008 – Avery High School senior Andrea Bridget McFee was awarded the Avery County Arts Council’s annual scholarship last night at the schools awards ceremony. The award, presented by Arts Council vice president Freda Greene, is a $1,000 cash prize to the winning student’s college of choice. More info...

The daughter of Leona and Kennie McFee of Newland, Ms. McFee has maintained an active involvement with extracurricular and community activities throughout her school years. She has been a member of student government and a player on basketball and softball teams, as well as a participant in her church choir. She was a member of the Beta Club in grades 11 and 12, and won a Mayland Young Author Award when she was a high school junior. Ms. McFee will attend Appalachian State University, where she will pursue her career interests in architecture and interior design.
